At the momment we are concentrating on choosing our genre for the May task, we are planning on changing the genre from our priliminary task from Horror to a new genre. I am currently making deconstructions on different genres and we will the evaluate the background research I have done to come to a conclusion as to which genre we wish to continue in.

At the momment I am in the process of finalising the comments I have made about our finial project. I am commenting on things such as positives and negative to the choices we have made during filming, the changes we have made before and after filming also. Many things have come to my attention such as the lack of pre-planning we did that was not effective when it came to filming; because of the amount of on spot decisions to change things during the filming process.

My Praise’s

All though there were things that did go wrong with our video I feel that there were also many things to praise. For e.g. the way the music and genre created a great atmosphere, the final editing, our pre-production.

The Music and Genre had a great relationship in association to eachother and also it played a nig part in the association to the story. As the story plot line became more indepth so did our composed music; it became fast and louder creating a positive affect and minipulating our auidence to a certian extent.  The initial idea for this in our music came from the deconstructions we madse on certian films; we all noticed that the music helped create our heart beats to race. So to make our film more professional we decided that from our pre-production investigations to use our found evidence. Our pre-production really helped us to make our video and I feel it should be well praised because of the tramendous effects it had. The story-boarding, the plot line all took us time to create and took my time to bring to life; however without our research and details I believe the film would have not worked as well.

The editing in our video was really well done thanks to Joe, he helped create a really effective video by the way he has editied it. The editing held great effects because of the amount of changes we made during filming. The changes we made during filming did have a negative affect but they also had a positive one too. The changes were made because we felt as a team they were necessary to made, therefore I am glad that they were made otherwise I don’t think our video would have been as good.

My Criticisms

Within our final video I feel there were a few criticisms to made, about our pre-production and how things planned out over all. For e.g. things like, the lighting of the video, the speech or lack there of and the timings of the video.

The lighting was far to dark in some parts of the video, this had an effect on what our auidience could see and it also put a dampner on the horror aspect because it did not make the video as scary as we would have liked. The lighting was crucial to seeing elemnts of our short video and in future we are going to have to test the lighting better because it is such a delicate thing that is easy to get right and it has such an impact on the final video.

The speech, or lack there of. We did not plan to have much speech at all however the word ‘hello’ did not come out correctly and also had an effect on the finial video because it did not show the upset/scared character that we had planned to have. I think in the next video we make we need to allow more time for things to go wrong and therefore we have the right amount of time to change these things that go wrong at last minute.

The time limit we had was 40sec, our video was 40seconds long, however I believe that the plot line we came up with was to complex for the time we had been allowed. Therefore we could not fit in all the detail that we had filmed to keep it within the 40 seconds, I therefore feel that next time we should have a plot that is more simple to abide by when filming. The changes we made to the original plot also had an affect on the time allowed. As we were filming we decided to make changes to our plot by adding in more detail to certian parts and taking other things out. Therefore I feel as a group we should spend more time planning and thinking about the plot and making any changes before hand; so when it comes to filming we have a plot that we are 110% happy with and can be followed, without the need for changes.

’15’ Certification.

The work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour.

Drug taking may be shown but drug misuse should not be promoted or encouraged throughout the film as a whole. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances (for example solvents or aerosols) is unlikely to be accepted.

Strong menace or threat are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised.

Imitable Behaviour

Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not be dwelled on in detail for copying reasons. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised.

There may be frequent use of strong language (for example, ‘F***’). The strongest terms such as (‘c***’) may be acceptable if justified by the context.

Nudity is allowed in a sexual context but without strong detail. There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context.

Sexual Content

Sexual activity may be portrayed without strong detail. There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour, but the strongest references are seen as unjust for a ‘15’

No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is appropriate for 15 year olds.

Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury.

This was taken from the BBFC website; I have edited some use of language chosen by the board. Most horror movies I have researched have been certificated at a ‘15’ I believe that our movie has no extreme violence or swearing in the clip we made. However because it is just a clip this does not mean if the rest of the movie was made, it would all be at a ‘12A’ rating.
